Frequently Asked Questions

Combat

What is the core mechanic?

Combat is a modified version of Rock, Paper, Scissors where the choices are Brute, Reckless, and Calculated.

To add a twist to these combat Styles, there's also a choice of which hero is attacking and what enemy is being targeted.

What Style beats what?

Brute beats Reckless: Power over Tricks

Reckless beats Calculated: You can't predict Recklessness

Calculated beats Brute: Brutes are Obvious

What Hero genes are used for each Style?

Brute: STR + DEX

Reckless: AGI + LCK

Calculated: INT + WIS

What happens if we both choose Brute?

In the case of a draw, the selected Hero and Opponent damage values for the selected Style are added together and split 50/50.

Where did VIT and END go?

VIT and END contribute to Hero health according to the following formula: Health = 40 + (3 * (VIT + END))

How do monsters choose their Style combination?

They select using a weighted random number based on sums of their primary and secondary stat growth rates of the stats that control each Style.

Example Primary Stat Growths Rates:

STR 40% DEX 30% INT 80% WIS 50%

Example Secondary Stat Growth Rates:

STR 10% DEX 13.75% INT 17.5% WIS 20%

Assuming the stat growths above, a monster would select:

Calculated range: INT Pri + INT Sec + WIS Pri + WIS Sec = 0.8 + 0.175 + 0.5 + 0.2 = 1.657

Brute range: STR Pri + STR Sec + DEX Pri + DEX Sec = 0.4 + 0.1 + 0.3 + 0.1375 = 0.9375

This means Calculated would be selected approximately 1.657 / 0.9375 or 1.77 times more often than Brute

What is Rest?

Rest is an non-Combat action that takes one turn to heal all alive Heroes in your party. Heroes heal according to the following formula:

Health Recovered = VIT * (1 + Primary Vitality Growth % + Secondary Growth %)

How do I win?

There are three primary methods to win: Kill the Boss, Clear all Enemies, or Reach the Final Room.

Is there always a Boss?

Since Killing a Boss in any dungeon results in Immediate Victory, not all Dungeons have Bosses.

How do I know when I've cleared all Enemies?

When you clear all Enemies you'll be presented with a Victory screen and given a Score for your performance.

Is my Score in Points?

Score is a Percentage that is limited to be between 50% and 100%.

What determines my Score?

Your total Turn Count and the number of Heroes that die determine your score.

You lose 1% for every Turn above Par and 10% for every Hero that dies.

How is Par calculated for a Dungeon?

Par is calculated using the following formula:

Room Count + (5 * Boss Count) + (3.5 * Mini-Boss Count) + (2 * Regular Enemy Count))

Additionally, there is an extra (Room Count / 2) added to Par for every Hero less than the Max you bring in.

For example, a 6 room Dungeon that allows up to 3 Heroes with Par of 36 would then have Par for two Heroes of 39.

Lastly, there might be other hidden or Dungeon-specific Par modifiers as needed.
